About Habla Zig-Zag Kilns (HZZK)
The Habla Zig-Zag Kiln (HZZK) is a proven, Australian owned low-carbon highly energy-efficient clean brick-firing technology for implementation across developing countries. It significantly reduces fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by more than 50%.
Capital and construction costs are low with an investment payback within one to two years. The kiln has universal application as a clean replacement technology across all brick production settings, from small rural to large commercial, for sustainable, high quality and profitable brick production.
The authentic and standardised HZZK design, core components and operational features are completely unique and different to every other kiln design (including all zig-zags) that currently operate in the developing nations. HZZK recommends, the rapid six to eight-week construction of a new HZZK kiln (on the existing site) to be far a more cost-effective, cleaner and more productive process rather than a retrofit of an existing polluting kiln.
Cleaner Production techniques, combined with the HZZK design, transform air quality, working conditions and occupational health and safety for workers to international standards accepted in developed countries.
HZZK can cut the enormous pollution generated by more than 500,000 highly polluting brick kilns which are worsening climate change across Asia, Africa, South and Central America today.
The HZZK gives the brick industry, where many continue to work in debt-bondage, a pathway for clean, safe humane workplace change and enables ethical, socially responsible brick production.
